Through contact tracing, the tool can ascertain those who have come in contact with the affected. The first phase of the project will be an API for public health agencies. Second is a system-level contact tracing system that works across iOS and Android. It uses on-board radios on the device to transmit anonymous IDs over short ranges.

DPIIT flags a list of industries to be opened soon. Suggestions were sent in a letter to the Home Ministry. The move comes as lockdown is likely to extend for two weeks. Corporates and production units to be allowed to run at a 20-25% employee capacity in a single shift. A few industries in the list are heavy electrical items, telecom equipment, defence units, steel mills and automotive. DPIIT also said enterprises with scope for social distancing and regular sanitization are eligible to open.

Kerala records high recovery rate in coronavirus cases in India. The state’s efforts to contain the pandemic were appreciated globally. As per the latest records, the recovery rate of patients in the state is estimated as 84%. Kerala’s efficient identification system and COVID care wards contributed to the high recovery rate. On April 10 alone, the state witnessed the recovery of 27 patients. In total, 124 patients in Kerala got cured and discharged from hospitals as of April 10.
COVID-19: Kerala’s community kitchens serve 2.5 to 2.8 lakh food packets a day. Food is being prepared at 1,255 kitchens set up across 14 districts. Food packets are given free of cost to the poor and marginalised. The initiative is run by local self-governing bodies in association with Kudumbashree. Aims to ensure a hunger-free society during the lockdown. The first set of such kitchens began functioning on March 26. Majority of community kitchens are in Ernakulam, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram & Thrissur.
