An American student develops transparent masks for the deaf & hard of hearing community. Ashley Lawrence, who designed the mask, is a student of deaf and hard of hearing education at Kentucky Eastern University. The face mask has a clear window to let people read lips and facial expressions. Regular face masks may make it difficult for the hearing-impaired to communicate. Transparent masks came as a great relief for the community relying on ASL. So far, Ashley received orders from six US states for the masks. Govt starts ‘desi’ version of Flipkart and Amazon e-retail chain for rural India. It is designed for the supply of essentials in villages through fast-expanding outlets. People can order both online and offline for essentials like vegetables, milk, pulses and fruits. The orders will be delivered within a period of a few hours, at the maximum, a day. The plan is led by the “Common Service Centres”, the rural digital outreach vehicle of the government. Customers can order supplies through a specially curated app that is provided to village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) or those in charge of CSC.

Serum Institute of India to make millions of potential coronavirus vaccine doses. Serum is the world’s largest vaccine maker by volume. The institute aims to produce up to 60 Mn doses of the vaccine.
