RBI opens liquidity facility (SLF-MF) worth Rs 50K Cr for mutual funds. Aims to ease the liquidity pressure faced by mutual funds. The special repo window will be available to all liquidity adjustment facility eligible banks. Banks can use the funds exclusively to meet liquidity requirements of MFs. SLF-MF is part of RBI’s ventures to mitigate possible financial crunch due to Corona.

Facebook plans to merge WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. The cross-platform concept comes after Fb introduced chat app ‘Messenger Rooms’. Facebook claims that Messenger Rooms are the gateway to the future. It gains relevance due to the growing demand for video calling during the lockdown. Facebook is also working on bringing an end to end encryption on its products.

IIT-Madras startup develops smart dustbin to prevent the spread of COVID. Named AirBin, the bin enables remote controlling of waste accumulation levels via smartphone. AirBin is developed by Antariksh, a startup incubated in IIT-M. The digital waste management system can alert sanitisation teams on regular intervals. Hazardous wastes getting generated at quarantine zones can cause spread of the pandemic.

China plans to build the world’s first airport for autonomous flying vehicles. The project is the brainchild of the flying carmaker Ehang. They plan to build it in the tourism-focused terminal in Hezhou city of southern China. 20 autonomous planes will be used for aerial sightseeing around the city. The company aims to open it by the end of 2020.
