Flipkart joins hands with Uber for delivery of essential items. Aim is to provide essential commodities in the shortest time. Uber India commenced training sessions for driver-partners, provided them with masks, gloves and more. Currently, customers in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru will get the service. Uber also provides UberMedic service to help healthcare workers.

PepsiCo India commits 5 Mn meals, 25K COVID-19 test kits. The 5 Mn meals move comes as part of PepsiCo’s #GiveMealsGiveHope programme. Aims to lend a helping hand to the economically weaker sections of society. The firm has partnered with Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide meals to the destitute. With Smile Foundation, PepsiCo will provide dry food ration for 8K families. COVID testing kits will be deployed in collaboration with the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND).

Scientists develop AI that can turn brain activities into text. Researchers at the University of California & Maastricht university are behind this. The system now works by decoding neural patterns while someone speaks aloud. It can be used to communicate with patients who are unable to speak or type. The data has been done using electrodes implemented in the brain. The 4 participants had electrodes implanted in their brain to monitor epileptic seizures. The team tracked their neural activity when they read aloud. The data was then fed into an ML algorithm, a kind of AI that does the conversion. Currently, the scientists are working towards bringing more accuracy to the technology.
Coronavirus Pandemic: Indian Railways develops low-cost ventilator. The device named Jeevan is priced much lower than the market value. The ventilator was developed at the Kapurthala rail coach factory. The prototype is awaiting clearance from the Indian Council of Medical Research or ICMR. This ventilator will cost Rs 10, 000 without compressor.

Govt of India introduces mobile app to connect to health services during COVID-19. The app Aarogya Sethu informs users about the [potential risk of infection through Bluetooth contact tracing. The app equips people with self-assessment tools and contextual advice. Aarogya Sethu is available in 11 languages. Data shared in the app is encrypted and secure. The mobile app can be installed in Android and IOS mobiles.
