The 27-year-old yogi-turned- entrepreneur Sarvesh Shashi is changing the preconceived notions about yoga through his startup SARVA. That is one reason how he gets the likes of Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez to invest in his brainchild.
Along with Lopez, the yoga and wellness startup has also raised funds from baseball player Alex Rodriguez and Bollywood actress Malaika Arora. India’s largest chain of health clubs Talwalkars has also invested in SARVA.
The Mumbai-based SARVA gained attention after securing 6 million dollars from Jennifer Lopez. Started in 2016, SARVA currently has 91 studios in 35 cities across India, clustering Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.
Over 60 thousand people practice yoga through SARVA. Through its digital service, SARVA enables access to yoga, mindfulness and fitness. Based on ancient yoga postures, SARVA offers 25 unique and comprehensive yoga techniques.
Sarvesh’s father Sasikumar is the chairman of Chennai-based Sabari Group. The startup counts Google, Yahoo, Amazon and Tata as its clients, and has also curated a set of 12 workshops for corporates. For working people, SARVA has designed easy-to-practice 15-20-minute workstation modules, such as Desktop yoga, Chair Yoga, Partner Yoga, Dance Yoga, Brain Engagement Yoga and so on. SARVA provides customized yoga services drawn from the best of ancient and modern techniques, which have inspired Jennifer Lopez to invest in it.
