Google develops promising AI that is one step ahead of humans in detecting cancer. The new AI system is able to identify 5 % more cancer cases compared to radiologists. This can potentially increase the survival chance of lung cancer patients. Through deep learning technology, cancerous cells can be detected with the help of a 3D lung scan. A radiologist uses hundreds of 2D images of a CT scan to detect cancer. Google began its research on detecting cancer from 2017. Detecting cancer on its initial stage helps reduce the risk of deaths. Around 1.7 million people die every year around the world due to lung cancer.
