George Washington: (1732-1739)
He owned a successful whiskey distillery. An 8,000-acre farm was under his ownership. During the 1800s, George Washington’s distillery produced nearly 11,000 gallons, making it one of the largest whiskey distilleries in America at the time.
Abraham Lincoln (1861-65)
Abraham Lincoln owned a General Store and ran a law practice centre.
He also invented a device to lift riverboats over sandbars. The law practice centre, Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, is located at Springfield, Illinois.
Warren G Harding (1921-23)
At the age of 19, he owned The Marion Daily Star, a newspaper. The newspaper was based at Ohio. Warren Harding’s newspaper career span for 39 years. His political successes were based on the thinking of a newspaper editor.
Herbert Hoover (1929-33)
Herbert Hoover started his career as a mining engineer. His experience in mine engineering led him to start his own mine engineering business in 1908.
Franklin D Roosevelt (1933-45)
Franklin D Roosevelt opened a rehabilitation centre in 1927 (Roosevelt’s Warm Spring Institute for Rehabilitation)which is still functional.
Harry S Truman (1945-53)
Before entering Politics, Harry S Truman was a retail manager of a haberdashery in Kansas City.
Jimmy Carter (197-81)
Jimmy Carter took over the family business in the peanut family industry. In the initial years, Carter struggled with the business but he grew the business somehow.
George W Bush (2001-09)
George Bush invested $6,00,000 in Texas Rangers, a leading baseball team. The company was in news for allegations of internal trading but came out clean later.
Barack Obama (2009-17)
After Leaving his presidency, Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama became film producers for Netflix. American Factory, the documentary produced by the duo under the banner Higher Ground will air in August.
