In lines with PM's vision of plastic-free nation, Total Corbion, ventures into India
While addressing the nation on Independence day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for putting an end to single-use plastics. While his call for the freedom from plastics came into prominence  across the country, Total-Corbion, a global leader in biodegradable plastic is venturing in to India. Total Corbion is introducing fully biodegradable and compostable plastics.
Partnering with Konspec
Total Corbion will commence its Indian operations in collaboration with Mangaluru based Polymer company, Konspec. Biodegradable plastic will be created out of Ploy Lactic Acid compound(PLA). It can be used as a substitute for the traditional way of packaging using Polyolefin.
Discussions with domestic companies
Total Corbion is mainly targeting domestic customers including airports, airlines,  hotels, railways, FMCG players, food aggregators and e-commerce players. Stephen Dion, the global chief executive of Total Carbion is currently in talks with dominant domestic companies of India.
Total Corbion and the hope it puts forward
Annual global usage of single use plastic has crossed 5 Mn tons. Only a small percentage of this constitute bio-degradable plastic. There is an imminent need for an Eco-friendly replacement. Total Corbion will hopefully put an end to the harmful effects of plastic upon environment.
