Why Meesho

It was a couple of months ago that Facebook made its first minority investment ever in a startup, Meesho. Meesho is India’s No:1 re-selling app, which leverages on women entrepreneurs by pitching products to their associates. What attracted FB authorities to invest in Meesho was that it brought 2,00,000 first time women entrepreneurs on board. Meesho is an innovation from India that can be exported to rest of the world. Meesho model could have a dramatic impact on job creation.
Prioritizing tech startups
Ajit Mohan said that there is an increasing willingness to invest in tech startups. Facebook is currently looking to invest in more tech startups. At the right stages, Facebook is open to conversations on direct investments.Facebook is committed to Bring technology into play. Facebook is currently focusing on developing Spark, an Augmented Reality platform. Spark AR will benefit segments including commerce, financial services, healthcare and tourism.
Connecting people to technology
In an unconstrained fashion, Facebook is willing to spend as much time and effort for familiarizing people with technology developed by Facebook, added Ajit Mohan. Another aspect which the company aims to cover is skills building. Whether it is She Leads Tech or She Means Business or an accelerator program, they focus on leveraging all the skills in the company. The motive of the programs will be to make these skill-sets reach startups. Such skills will be useful for people on how to move your company from an idea to a first product and from that first product to building scale.
