Aiming industry 4.0
While the world is welcoming an industry 4.0 oriented transformation, students should be prepared to embrace changes happening in the startup and entrepreneur ecosystems, says Dr. Saji Gopinath, CEO, KSUM. Many world powers are creating boundaries and getting secluded to themselves. Only technology is capable of widening the world and make people connect further. Dr. Saji Gopinath added that only socially relevant technologies will be able to cross such boundaries and influence people. He was speaking at IEDC Summit 2019, Asia’s biggest student-entrepreneur summit.
Technology disruption and endless possibilities
Dr. Rajashree M. S, Vice Chancellor at Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam Technological University, inaugurated the event. Technology disruption is creating employment opportunities in almost every fields and students should exploit such opportunities to the maximum, said Dr. Rajashree. The changes that happened in banking sector due to technology was pointed out by SBI Digital Banking Head, Sony.
Participation of 4,000 students
Around 4,000 students from various colleges in Kerala took part in the event. Students and startups got to showcase their talent in the activity hub and digital expo conducted as part of the event. Students who took part in the summit said that it was a networking and learning experience.
Times should change
Hungry Lab founder Bian Li spoke about implementation of Industry 4.0. Television Journalist Santhosh George Kulangara said that there was a time when entrepreneurs weren’t recognized for their potential in Kerala. He added that times should change and Kerala will transform to promote entrepreneurship. Students venturing into entrepreneurship through events like IEDC is the proof for it, said Santhosh George Kulangara.
What is IEDC?
In order to enhance entrepreneurship among student community, Kerala Startup Mission organizes IEDC Summit annually since 2016. Incubation support for innovative ideas and monetary support for startups are the benefits promised by KSUM. IEDC Summit is one of the most extensive network of college-based institutions. For students from different parts of Kerala, IEDC offers help by developing the concepts of startups along with learning.
