Early detection can reduce cancer risks getting serious by upto 50%. iBreastExam device can be operated through a mobile app.
Camps in India
As part of promotion of the equipment, various camps were conducted in India. Discussions are being held with the State Health Department to conduct programs in Kerala at the Panchayath and District levels. In India alone, above 2 Lakh women were tested with the equipment. Hospitals including Aster Medicity have agreed to use the equipment.
Efforts are going on to expand the product across geographies through public-private partnerships; Govt, NGO and CSR projects. The functioning of the product is as simple that anyone from doctors to community health workers can use it.
iBreast officials say that multiple studies have been conducted to ensure that the equipment is functioning properly. The product has also received clearance from USFDA.
The team
iBreastExam device has been developed by UE Life Sciences Pvt Ltd. The company has offices in the US, India and Malaysia. Started in Mumbai by Mihir Shah, the company has more than 70 experts including doctors. Mihir Shah is a computer engineering graduate from Drexel University. In 2006, his mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer which led Mihir to think of innovative solutions that can happen in the area of breast cancer. Today, many global cancer care centers have subscribed to iBreastExam services.
