As there is a decline in the number of COVID-19 patients, two areas that need attention now are hospitals and health centers where the affected and the recovered patients visited. Raybo ( റെയ്ബോ ), a smart UV disinfection robot, which can disinfect hospitals using ultraviolet rays, is preparing to take this new challenge during the second stage of COVID combat.
The robot is developed by Tequard Labs Pvt Ltd, a company based in Ernakulam. Using UV rays, the robot can disinfect rooms where COVID patients were admitted, bathrooms and items they used within 20 minutes.
“Since we are disinfection is done using UV light, 360° disinfection is possible”, says Ebin Alias, Founder and CEO, Tequard Labs. “We can use this as a service robot, which supply food and medicines in isolation wards. In the next stage of the project, we are aim to disinfect shopping malls, railway stations, airport, insides of trains, planes, buses and classrooms” added Ebin
The controller can see the disinfection process as a live feed camera is installed in it. The robot will immediately turn off UV-Rays if it detects human presence around. The robot, which can help in avoiding manual disinfection, will soon be in service.
