U.S scientists develop the world’s smallest memory unit controlled by atom

Developed by a team of electrical engineers at the University of Texas at Austin

A cross-section area of just a single square nanometer has been used to make the memory device

The single atom memory uses switching in an atomic monolayer of molybdenum disulphide

The scientists have also found the physics that unlocks dense memory storage capabilities for these tiny devices
