Google in talks with Reliance Jio and Airtel to pilot high-speed internet connectivity using light beams

Aims to bring connectivity to remote areas and resolve hurdles such as laying optical fibers

The initiative is a part of Google’s ‘Project Taara’, piloted in Andhra Pradesh and Kenya

The project uses light beams to provide internet connectivity to far-flung regions at a speed of 20 Gbps

In India, the current maximum speed accessible is 1 Gbps
