U.S President Joe Biden imposes travel restrictions on India to limit COVID-19 spread
Non-U.S citizens are barred from entering the United States starting May 4
Restrictions are imposed as per the advice of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Biden on Friday signed a proclamation implementing the restrictions
The proclamation says India accounts for over one-third of new global cases
Biden had imposed a similar ban in January this year
Countries like UK, Germany, Italy and Singapore have also imposed a travel ban on India
Canada, Hong Kong and New Zealand have suspended all commercial travel with India
