WhatsApp may allow users to migrate chats between Android and iPhone even if they change with a different number
The new development is expected to be done via the Chat History Migration tool
The feature is currently under development
A relief to users who are planning to switch their accounts between Android and iOS
As of now, WhatsApp lets users change their phone number while maintaining their previous chats
One can transfer chat history while switching to a new device or a phone number
However, it happens only if both the devices have a similar UI for WhatsApp
This means chat transfer is possible only between two Android phones or iOS phones
