NTPC invites EoI to procure hydrogen fuel cell-based e-buses and cars. It will be a first of its kind project in India. The environment-friendly EVs will be deployed in Delhi and Leh. EoI is issued by NTPC’s subsidiary, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) Ltd. The aim is to decarbonise the mobility segment.

Facebook unveils video chat service, Messenger Rooms. The new feature is a virtual room where users can connect with friends. Messenger Rooms are designed for socialising; as many as 50 people can participate. Even people without a Facebook account or app can take part. Facebook will compete with the likes of Zoom app through the feature.

Corona: Uber partners with Delhi govt to offer free rides to emergency services. It will provide transportation to healthcare workers & non-COVID patients. The free rides amount to Rs 75 lakh. 200 UberMedic cars will be deployed to transport non-COVID patients. UberMedic already transports medical workers in 28 hospitals across 14 cities. The cars have roof-to-floor plastic sheeting enclosing the driver, thus limiting the contact with the rider.
Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi develops a low-cost COVID-19 detection kit. The kit was approved by the Indian council of Medical Research (ICMR). IIT-D is the first academic institute to obtain ICMR approval for a real-time PCR-based diagnostic assay. The kit made using indigenous technology costs barely a few hundred. IIT Delhi intends to begin the production of this kit by this week itself. The 10-member team identified unique regions in the COVID 19/SARS COV-2 genome.
