Kerala joins hands with IIT Kanpur & Genrobotics for ventilators. Kerala State IT Dept & KSUM will lead the venture. Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre will also take part in the project. Genrobotics is known for developing the sewage cleaning robot. IIT Kanpur had recently introduced the prototype of a portable ventilator. If COVID cases rise in the country, there will be more demand for ventilators.
Kerala develops India’s first walk-In kiosk or WISK for coronavirus test. It is inspired by the model deployed in South Korea for COVID testing. The sample collection for PCR & Rapid tests can be done using WISK. Healthcare professional behind the glass shield can collect throat swab in a safe distance. Thick gloves are attached to the shield to help the professional maintain distance. Two WISKs were set up at the Govt medical college, Ernakulam.
