Health Ministry plans to ban e-cigarettes in India. Government’s drug committee conclude that e-cigarettes can be defined as drugs. The decision is in compliance with Section 26(A) of Drugs and Cosmetics Act. According to WHO report, there are 266.8 Mn tobacco users in India. Cigarette market in the country is valued at $12 Bn. A final decision regarding the matter will be announced soon.
