Inaugurating the event, J Mercy Kutty Amma, Minister of Department of Fisheries, said skill development programmes organised under ASAP will ensure expertise in jobs. Students from anywhere in Kerala will be benefited from this initiative, added the Minister. The Skill Park imparts high-tech courses in animation and textile industry. While a Singapore based company is providing beautician courses, IBM helps in imparting courses in Computer science and Communicative English.
Global firms join the effort
A consortium of companies including Synchroserve, Singapore-based XPRIENZ, Training Vision and IBM are providing various courses at Skill Park. Fatiz, a leading fashion brand, and Toonz Animations in the media and entertainment industry are also providing training in their respective fields.
Proper accreditation framework
Courses provided at Skill Park have proper accreditation framework, says Usha Titus, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Dept. NSG framework or IBM level accreditation is provided. ASAP provides opportunities to stay relevant in the society; seek jobs independently and; to work under different employers.
Accepting technology
Technology is becoming a factor in problem-solving and this lead to changes even in small things. Hence, it is inevitable to accept technology without outrightly rejecting it, said IBM Delivery Project Executive Vijayanti Sreenivasa Raghavan. Anoop P, SPM in charge, CSP Kulanada, said Skill Mitra aims to extend the opportunity to acquire new skills to all people in society. The industry is speeding ahead, so it’s imperative to speed up learning skills, said Yvette Chiang, Principal, Singapore SPA Institute.
