Indian Army builds simple and secure WhatsApp alternative for internal communication
The app is called Secure Application for the Internet (SAI)
As part of Prime Minister’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision for self-reliant India
SAI comes at a time when there is widespread concern over the use of commercial mobile apps
It can support end-to-end secure exchange of texts, voice and video-calling services for Android
The app is similar in structure compared to WhatsApp, Samvad, Telegram and Gims
During the China conflict, Indian army personnel were asked to delete 80 apps including Facebook, Zoom & SnapChat
