Spacetech startup Bellatrix Aerospace tests India’s first privately-built Hall Thruster
Hall Thruster technology is used to propel heavy satellites weighing upwards of 2,000 kgs
It uses electric and magnetic fields to ionize propellant gases and produces thrust
The technology, originally used only for heavier satellites, can now be used for lighter ones
Bellatrix is now working towards testing its hall-effect thruster in space
It earlier developed the world’s first commercial Microwave Plasma Thruster, which uses water as fuel
