World Bank’s $500M aid to uplift Indian MSMEs

Targets 5,55,000 MSMEs to improve the performance

In July 2020, the World Bank approved $750 Mn under the MSME Emergency Response Programme

World Bank will set up an MSME Council to enable better coordination between national and state-level programmes

This will be done in collaboration with its private sector arm, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

India’s MSME sector contributes about 30% to the country’s GDP and 40% to exports
