New Zealand-based startup ‘Emrod’ tests wireless transmission of electricity
If successful, it will be the world’s first commercial remote wireless power transmission
Remote renewable energy possibilities such as wind farms are being tested
Transmitting antenna developed by Emrod converts electricity into microwaves
The power transmission uses a non-ionizing ISM frequency band
If the project is successful, power supply will be possible without copper wires
It shuts down automatically if birds or humans enter the grid
If successful, it will enable low-cost, smooth power supply, Emrod said
