Galloni is a native of Rome
She replaces Stephen J. Adler who is retiring this month
Reuters won hundreds of awards, including seven Pulitzer Prizes, under Adler’s leadership
Galloni, who is fluent in four languages, is a former Wall Street Journal employee
Her priority is to strengthen Reuters’ digital and event businesses
She was serving as global managing editor at Reuters
Galloni oversaw journalists at 200 locations around the world
The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times are currently busy finding new executive editors
