SBI Mutual Fund chief executive officer ആയും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു. എസ് ബി ഐയിൽ 34 വർഷത്തെ പ്രവർത്തന പരിചയം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുണ്ട്. Treasury, Network Banking, Credit എന്നിവയിൽ പ്രവർത്തന പരിചയം. Investment Banking ,Asset Management എന്നിവയിലും ചുമതല നിർവഹിച്ചു. Banks Board Bureau ആണ് ഭാട്യയെ എംഡി സ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചത്. പി കെ ഗുപ്ത വിരമിച്ച ഒഴിവിലാണ് ഭാട്യയുടെ നിയമനം.
