Walmart-owned Flipkart in talks to buy grocery chain Namdhari’s Fresh. Acquisition to help Flipkart expand its food & grocery segment. Namdhari’s operates over 30 stores in Bengaluru. Walmart acquired about 77 % of Flipkart for $16 Bn in 2018.

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade proposes relaxation in Income Tax laws to help startups raise funds. DPIIT recommends amendments in Section 54GB and 79 of the IT Act to help founders raise capital by selling properties. DPIIT aims to promote budding entrepreneurs who face difficulty in fundraising. The proposal is part of the Startup India Vision 2024. The proposal will help setting up of 50K startups and 20 Lakh employment opportunities by 2024.
Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority plans to partner with NASSCOM and startups for national pension scheme. It is to draw attention to PFRDA Sandbox for effective participation. The regulator will identify areas under the NPS that can utilize fintechs using regulatory sandbox to benefit subscribers & the scheme. Fintech will be useful in paperless pension account generation, compliance to KYC & more.
